Charles Rhett McGinty was born on 14 November 1945 in Silsbee, TX to Maxie and John Walter McGinty.
He was the 3rd of 4 siblings:

- Marilyn
- Charles Rhett, and
- Bobby.
He married Carolyn Matthews on 27 January 1968 in San Antonio, TX.
They had three children, Patrick (1970), Ian (1975) and Niall (1978).
He died on 27 April 2018 in Austin, TX.
